Gallery & Portfolio Website Packages

I’m pleased to be able to offer a complete, all-in-one website package to fellow photographers—and anyone else for that matter, artists or illustrators for example—who need to exhibit their work online. It’s been an idea of mine to offer such a service for a while now, in fact since I started looking around for something to use for my first website many moons ago and couldn’t find anything suitable.

My aim is to provide a complete, hassle free solution for showcasing images on a personalised, fully updateable website without the technical complexities that I know can deter a lot of creative people. (more…)

Don’t forget the dummy, dummy!

Like most things, preparation is all important but even though you think you might be prepared for a job, there’s sometimes something which happens that you’d never think of. Until the next time anyhow, that’s where experience counts I guess.

This job was, on paper, going to be relatively straightforward, simply photograph a few dozen sports shirts. Studio booked and set up beforehand, shirts in the studio and in the right order, and the tailors dummy which was going to model the shirts—so no models involved either—all arranged as well. Samworth Academy artwork installation

I’ve just received these photos of the giant 6x3m artwork being installed at the newly built Samworth Academy in Mansfield. It’s always satisfying to see the work that you’ve squinted at for hours on your computer monitor come to life.

The 200 student portraits were taken by Peter Jepson, these needed converting to black & white, cropping and adjusting tonally to give an overall uniformity. There was also a bit of cloning needed to do up a couple of top buttons and tie straightening once the Head had seen the proof. (more…)

Case Study: Cathedral Bells

The brief was simple—an iconic picture of the bells for use by Worcester Cathedral for publicity purposes. The shoot was anything but simple however. The original requirement was for a shot looking directly down onto the bells, almost a record shot. A wooden staircase is attached to one wall of the tower and so it all seemed straightforward enough. The problem however was getting enough height to include the complete set of 16 bells in the frame but too high and a pair of wooden beams would be included, obscuring the view. (more…)
